Salt is a symbol of the covenant between men and divinity.

Christians also associated salt with longevity, truth, knowledge and wisdom.

Hebrews considered salt a symbol of wisdom and of the eternal covenant between God and Israel. According to the Torah: “an everlasting covenant of salt before the Lord”.

In Islam, salt was used to close a deal and to reach immortality, since even when dissolved in water it crystallizes again after evaporation, as if it were a resurrection.

In Hinduism salt became a symbol of loyalty
