AROUSING FLAVOURS FOR 100 YEARS
: In the last 105 yeasts, the iconic company Vatel has had a constant role in the Portuguese household. Present in our youth memories, reaching across multiple generations and maintaining to this day as a source of trust, Vatel has been for over 100 years arousing flavours, and continues to add more flavour to our own history. In the year when it celebrate its centenary (2015), Vatel, the leading company in the Portuguese salt market, challenged one of the more respected Portuguese chefs, Chef Justa Nobre, to create a recipe to accompany such a unique event. This is how the magnificent Sea bass baked on Salt with Rosé sauce, sweet potato with shallots and vegetables ‘trouxa’ is created.
A fervent proponent of traditional cooking, Chef believes in aiming to daily overcome any obstacles and continuous evolution. “Vatel is a brand that I have been raised alongside. Since I was young I remember Vatel’s salt in our kitchen. Since it is the salt that I use for cooking, and knowing many of the brand’s products, it was easy to create a recipe. The main benefits of this recipe are the raw ingredients used. Eating fish (sea bass), besides being an easy to digest dish, enhances memory, focus, helps with cardiovascular diseases and increases anti-inflammatory reactions in the organism, because fish is rich in omega 3. And when you talk about fish you are always relating to salt, an essential ingredient in its cooking.”
VATEL IS PRESENT IN ‘PEIXE EM LISBOA’ (FISH IN LISBON)
From 9th to 19th of April 2015, Vatel was present in the ‘Peixe em Lisboa’ event, in Pátio da Galé. One of the more emblematic gastronomic festivals in our country counted with Vatel’s kitchen, the stage of daily cooking show, conducted by Chef Justa Nobre and her team, and where salt was an inspiring ingredient.

A brand is made of people and Vatel invited its own team to commemorate its 100th birthday, in ‘Peixe em Lisboa’, with Chef Justa Nobre.
IN 2015, VATEL WAS PART OF ‘FESTIVAL DO MARISCO’ (SHELLFISH FESTIVAL)
Vatel was present in ‘Festival do Marisco’, which took place between the 10th and 15th of August 2015, in Jardim Pesacador Olhanense, close to Ria Formosa. During five days, guests could taste excellent shellfish presented in a variety of ways, cooked traditionally, regional sweets, handicrafts, shows and visit multiple stands, among which Vatel’s stand. Synonymous with quality, tradition, trust and the Portuguese way, Vatel was present with a stand where, besides showing its products, always kept its dynamism, being an obligatory waypoint. With a product offer and information related to salt and the brand’s history, Vatel celebrated its 100 years in the best way possible, near its consumers. According to Patrícia Coimbra, Vatel’s Marketing Manager, “Vatel’s presence in this sort of initiatives is essential for the dynamism of our brand. In the year when we commemorate our 100th birthday, we have been promoting a number of initiatives: from challenging one of the more respected Portuguese chefs, Chef Justa Nobra, in creating a recipe that presents such a special occasion, from being part in events with a big impact at the national level, such as the ‘Festival do Marisco’ in Olhão, and also by creating a collectable special limited edition of packages with images illustrating the brand’s values accompanying Vatel’s historical scenarios.”
